Hi, I’m Chevy
Chevy is a young, sweet girl who can be worried by new people and unfamiliar environments. She will need a calm, patient adopter who understands that she may take a little extra time to warm up and feel safe.
She is still learning how to walk on lead and currently finds the lead quite scary and overwhelming. Ongoing support and gentle training will be essential. We recommend building a strong bond with Chevy at home first, then introducing the lead slowly. Begin with short, positive sessions in the backyard, progressing to the driveway and back before exploring further. High-value treats will be important to help make each step fun and rewarding.
Chevy should be allowed indoors as part of the family. She is affectionate and will likely enjoy cuddling on the couch once she trusts you. She may also benefit from crate training or having a cosy "den" space to retreat to when feeling unsure.
An active, busy girl, Chevy will thrive with daily play once comfortable. New toys can be scary at first, so sessions should always stay positive. She can become easily aroused, so ongoing basic training, impulse control, and "four paws on the floor" work will help her succeed.
Chevy is head-shy and unsure with close handling, so positive-reinforcement methods and regular consent breaks are a must. Teens are recommended, though this can be flexible. All family members should be involved in her continued training and must meet her at adoption.

- A property check may be required before ADOPTION to ensure the safety and welfare of adoption animals. Rental agreements allowing pets will be required for adoptions into rental properties. Differential pricing may apply.
- The website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that by the time you have completed the Apply to Adopt form the animal you have an interest in might have been adopted by another party.
- While our shelters are open, not every pet available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. To express your interest, Apply to Adopt online and if it's a perfect match you will be shortlisted and contacted via phone by our Adoption Team to discuss the animal in detail.
